Sandra Rowney: Biography

I am based in the East of England in the heart of the Norfolk Broads where I have a riverside studio. I paint large colourful paintings using acrylic paint that tell the stories of people I have met and places I have visited, depicting strange and wonderful artifacts and designs that I've discovered.

I have a Masters Degree in Art, Design and Education from the Norwich University of the Arts, and a PGCE. I took up painting twenty years ago after a teaching career and am now offering occasional art workshops in my studio throughout the year together with some community based art projects.

I belong to a well established art group 'The Norwich 20 Group' founded in 1944, and show regularly with them in the City of Norwich. My smaller works are shown regularly in exhibitions and galleries around Norfolk.

I have had artist residencies in the garden of a Norfolk stately home and a Norfolk Church, painted and designed sets for a Norwich Theatre, organised art week at a local school and summer art school in the Norwich University of the Arts.
